Description:

Actility is delighted to participate in the Innopolis Expo, an event that offers a 360° approach to integrating all components of territorial projects into local policies!

Birdz and Actility are working together to revolutionize smart water metering in France, offering complementary solutions that enable accurate and efficient water management, by leveraging their respective technologies and services to offer a unified and scalable solution.

Birdz, a specialized subsidiary of Veolia, is at the forefront of designing and implementing communicating sensors for water meters. They offer water meters that are compatible with various radio technologies, including LoRaWAN. Birdz’s expertise lies in the development of open, interoperable, and reversible solutions that meet the specific needs of water supply management, including accurate billing, leak detection, and real-time data monitoring.

Actility, on the other hand, provides the backbone for this innovation through its ThingPark IoT platform. It offers unified, scalable, multipurpose IoT network infrastructure that connects the smart meters to the system, aggregating and analyzing the meter data. Actility’s platform ensures well-defined points of interoperability between different systems, simplifying integration, and reducing costs. The collaboration with Actility also provides Birdz with optimal network coverage through LoRaWAN, which complements other connectivity technologies.

The complementary nature of Birdz’s smart meter technology and Actility’s IoT platform creates a robust joint solution for smart water metering. Birdz’s innovative meters can efficiently collect data, while Actility’s platform can seamlessly aggregate and transmit this data for various applications. Together, they provide a flexible and efficient solution that meets the needs of utilities and cities.

A shining example of this joint solution is the massive deployment by Veolia in France. Through its collaboration with Birdz and Actility, Veolia has deployed over 3 million smart water meters across the nation, leveraging LoRaWAN® IoT network technology. The success of this project not only highlights the compatibility and efficiency of Birdz’s and Actility’s complementary solutions but also underscores the transformative potential of smart metering in improving water management, empowering customers, and driving ecological innovation. Veolia’s ambitious goal to read more than 70% of the meters remotely by 2027 is a testament to the strength and promise of this collaborative approach.

The state of Veolia-Birdz deployment has been presented at the LoRaWAN World Expo in Paris in July 2022, by Laure Simon, Director of Telco Projects at Veolia Water France.
